Shivang R. Dave, PhD, is CEO and Co-Founder of PlenOptika, which designs and produces tools to vastly expand access to vision care globally. As CEO, Shivang led PlenOptika’s growth from startup to an international company with products in global distribution, improving vision for millions of patients worldwide. A passionate advocate for technology innovation to address care disparities, Shivang has positioned PlenOptika as a thought leader in vision health research, optical care, and global health policy with strong strategic partnerships in academia, industry, and public health. He earned his undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley and doctorate in Bioengineering and Nanotechnology from the University of Washington, and completed an advanced research fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. A veteran of two commercial startups prior to PlenOptika, Shivang mentors rising entrepreneurs by sharing his experiences and insights regarding innovation, translational medicine, and leadership.
Daryl Lim has been involved in both technical and business sides of the biomedical industry. He received a B.S. in Physics from the University of Leipzig and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University. Following that, he did a postdoctoral fellowship at MIT where he developed diagnostic technologies for ophthalmology and oncology. As a management consultant at McKinsey & Company, Daryl worked with some of the largest companies in the med-tech, healthcare, and pharma sectors in a variety of projects spanning operations, strategy, organization, and more.
Eduardo Lage, a native of Spain, received his undergraduate degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Alcala (Madrid) and his PhD in Medical Imaging from the University Politecnica of Madrid. He began his career in Medical Imaging by joining the Medical Imaging Lab of the Gregorio Marañon Hospital to help in the development of a Positron Emission Tomography (PET) system for small-animal imaging. From that time, Eduardo Lage has focused his career on exploring innovative approaches for molecular imaging. Dr. Lage has led or participated in the design and development of various preclinical scanners (PET, SPECT, CT and multimodality systems) which have been commercialized by several companies such as SEDECAL S.A. (Madrid) and General Electric (USA).
